The season begins Oct. 21 with Alborada, a five-member musical group that entertains using more than 30 different instruments in a unique blend of Andean music, classical arrangements and popular tunes. The group will also give a concert for children in the afternoon.

Next is Frank Vignola & Hot Club USA. Formed in 1997, the Hot Club has toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe. Their performance celebrates the acoustic chamber jazz sound created in Paris in the 1930s by Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt and his partner, violinist Stephane Grappelli.

Following the Hot Club is a free bonus concert Jan. 18. A “pops” concert featuring the Valley Concert Band conducted by Roland Terry will feature guest artist fiddler Billy Armstrong. He has been awarded the title of Country Music’s No. 1 Fiddle Player 13 consecutive years by the Academy of Country Music.

Armstrong has performed with Hank Thompson, Tex Williams, Spade Cooley, Cliff Stone and The Frontiersmen, and was a member of the Sons of the Pioneers for eight years. Armstrong recorded with Bob Wills as well as with many other country stars during his career.

Soprano Alison England appears in “Opera, Broadway & Beyond,” on March 11. Her performance blends opera, Broadway and pop’s best, with reflections of one artist’s journey through life. England has appeared with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Seattle, Miami, St. Louis and Honolulu symphonies.

Glen Rose and Tin Pan Alley will present a tribute to American songwriters of the 1920s and 1930s on April 22. Rose toured for 10 years entertaining in every country in western Europe. Not only an accomplished vocalist and pianist, he also tap dances and plays the ukulele and guitar.

His programs are spiced with anecdotes, as well as the living history of each artist and his times.

Prices for the four-series concerts are $50 adults, $15 students, and $110 for the family plan (two adults plus students age 18 and under).

Checks are payable to the Lodi Community Concert Association, Inc., P.O. Box 2455, Lodi, CA 95241. For additional information, call (209) 368-7892 or (209) 368-9139.
