I'm amazed by the letters to the editor that claim President Bush will start World War III.

Wake up, people! War was declared on us on Sept. 11 2001. Why did Muslim terrorists attack us on 9/11 with such bravado?

Osama Bin Laden gave the world a good indication after 18 Army Rangers were killed and 74 U.S. servicemen were wounded when Somali militias shot down two U.S. helicopters in Mogadishu and the corpses of Americans were dragged through streets by mobs. Bill Clinton quickly retreated and Bin Laden called the U.S. a "paper tiger" who will run from a fight.

John Kerry makes Bill Clinton look like George Patton. Kerry has been on the wrong side of almost all significant military issues over the past 20 years, including the plan to protect America from incoming nuclear ballistic missiles. In fact, he voted against many of the weapons we are using today to protect America.

Kerry clearly wants to turn over our national security responsibilities to the United Nations. The same corrupt United Nations that, according to a just-released government report, let Saddam Hussein's government systematically purchase military-related goods for the seven years of the U.N. oil for food program.

The United Nations looked the other way while Iraq fed of the Oil for Food "cash cow" and at the same time slaughtered its own people.

The governments of France and China also blocked U.S. efforts within the United Nations to stop abuse of the program. Russian President Vladimir Putin recently said he believes the activities of terrorists in Iraq are not as much aimed at the coalition as at President Bush personally, and that the goal of international terrorism is to prevent the election of President Bush to a second term.

It appears Bin Laden would vote for Mr. Sept. 10 John Kerry if he could. I'm entrusting my family's future to a man who truly understands the horrible threat we face. That man is George W. Bush.
