The Monterey Aquarium was founded as a way to protect marine life on Monterey Bay and to make it available for everyone’s appreciation. After several attempts to build an aquarium in the early 1900s, it became a reality in 1983. Angela Hains, senior associate manager of public relations, said it was the vision of the founders to show visitors what is in their own backyard. Hains took some time on a recent morning to talk about what is available for visitors of the aquarium.
