The late President Ronald Reagan, the GOP icon who said that ketchup should be considered a vegetable and if you've seen one redwood tree you've seen them all, also proclaimed, "Government doesn't solve problems; it is the problem!"

With all due respect to our 40th president I would like to paraphrase his famous quote: "George W. Bush can't solve our problems: He is the problem!"

He and Vice President Dick Cheney travel all over the United States telling people that because we are fighting a war in Iraq we are safer at home. How many Iraqis were on the hijacked planes Sept. 11, 2001? None that I know of. How are we safer?

There were 16 Saudis, one Egyptian, one Yemeni, and one Lebanese national. Not only that, but the Bush Administration made sure that any Saudi named bin Laden was picked up and flown back to Saudi Arabia while all commercial airlines were grounded.

More than 850 young men and women have given their lives on the hot desert sands in Iraq. We can't get an accurate number of those wounded or injured. It's in the thousands. Add on all of the dead and injured Iraqis, most of whom are innocent of any crime, and the numbers are overwhelming.

We have gone from being the most respected nation on earth to being the least respected since the year 2000. That's when George W. Bush was "selected" to lead our nation. We can't let it happen again.
