I want to share some wonderful things being done by the teens of Galt High School.

Efforts coordinated by St. Christopher's Church, community volunteers and donations from several of our campus clubs (Future Farmers of America, Key Club, and Friday Night Live), provided 17 dinners for families in need from Galt High School over the Thanksgiving holiday. More than 160 families were served from the entire community area.

Thirty-four students from Fairsite Elementary will be getting a holiday gift box from Galt High School Leadership students during the week of Dec. 16. A small party will be held for them at the school with songs, cookies and punch. Coordinated efforts by the Leadership class, and outreach consultants from Galt High and Fairsite Elementary will make for a happier holiday season.

The Key Club and Future Farmers of America brought gifts for a student who will have a baby this month. Nurse Becky and Laurie B. held a shower for her with many staff providing gifts. Having a shower isn't a regular thing for a student, but this was a special circumstance.

Friday Night Live Club is providing two Galt High School families with a take-out dinner and video rentals. The families have a GHS student with a severe illness and we wanted to make their family time more special.

The Friday Night Live Club will also host a holiday party for 30 Galt High School County students at GHS during the week of Dec. 16. (Special needs students, severely disabled, Down syndrome, etc.) The party includes small gifts, goodies, Licensed Therapy Santa Dog, and songs.

Warriors for Christ and Key Club will again participate in Christmas Promise where they provide Christmas gifts to a needy family. This is a one time per family affirm with the clubs donating $600 in gifts to the family. The Christmas Promise organization and both clubs coordinate this event.

I hope I didn't leave out any Galt High groups that are working on promoting a happier holiday season in the Galt area. Many clubs and classes promote special events/activities during the entire year and work hard to earn funding. Thank to all of you for your generosity and thinking of others.
