The Reisinger family

The family: Brian Reisinger 43, his wife, Connemara 42. They have two sons, Aaron, 19, in his second year at the University of California taking business classes, and Andrew, 16, a junior at Tokay High School.

Background: The Reisingers met at Chapman University in Orange while doing undergraduate work in 1978. She was a freshman, he was a sophomore. They became good friends, dated three years and then married.

Brian has a master’s degree in business. Connemara has a master of arts in communications.

She is president and chief executive officer of GoodWill Industries of San Joaquin Valley.

Brian is owner/operator and president of Rein Associates, a property management company.

“It works out great because he is just down there a couple of days a week,” Connemara said. “He can participate in football and baseball seasons with our sons.”

They have lived in Lodi since 1993.

Worship: The Reisingers attend United Congregational Christian Church. Both served on the board last year. Brian was on the facilities committee and Connemara organized the children’s worship.

Their sons are active in youth groups.

Core values as a family: “We value travel and education and try to do that together,” Connemara said. “We plan to travel every year and work on it. It’s not always easy with multiple schedules.”

The Reisingers have on their refrigerator a magnet for every state they have visited and have been to such diverse places as the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., and the Louisville Slugger Museum in Kentucky.

The boys and Brian are baseball fans, so they have seen Wrigley Field in Chicago and gone to spring training in Phoenix.

Best cook: “Hands down, mom is,” Connemara said. “But Aaron is getting better all the time. The kids eat to live rather than living to eat, so it’s all about what they can grab quick and go.”

Favorite meal: “Something barbecued, like chicken or barbecue pesto salmon,” Connemara said.

Favorite vacation spot: “Even though we love to travel, we usually spend a week on the Delta 20 minutes from the house at B&W resort water skiing,” Connemara said. “Uninterrupted time together having fun. It’s not where we go, its being together. We read, talk, play games and visit and just relax.”

Activities enjoyed by family: Baseball, water skiing and travel. Connemara loves to bird watch.

Best family feature of Lodi: “Because of the smaller atmosphere, its easy to know a lot of people and with two high schools it is easy to be really connected with young people,” Connemara said. “We are very close to a lot of really nice natural attractions in the area, as well as all our own. The new theater is great and Lodi Lake — there are a lot of things we can do together here.”

Plans for future: “We are starting to work on the relationships that adult parents have with adult children,” Connemara said. “Our goal is to have a healthy relationship with our children. Our hope is that we will remain close and that we’ll see each other frequently and communicate consistently. There will be grandchildren, weddings, passages of life. All the traditional things that happen. If there is still spring training in Phoenix we will go with the grandkids and probably take the grandkids water skiing.
