The San Joaquin Athletic Association basketball season winds down this week for basketball teams at Lodi and Tokay high schools.

The Tokay Tigers boys team (18-9 overall, 10-2 SJAA) travels to play St. Mary's (18-9, 8-4) at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Tigers haven't beaten the Rams in four years and need the win to keep pace with Lodi (23-4, 11-1).

Lodi hosts Franklin (14-13, 5-7) at 7 p.m. Wednesday before ending the season with a trip across town to face Tokay on Friday.

If both teams win their games Wednesday, the Tigers could win the league title with a victory over the Flames. Although both teams would have identical records, Tokay would get the title because of its two wins over Lodi.

However, if Tokay loses and Lodi wins Wednesday, the Tigers will be forced to settle for second place.

Regardless of who wins the SJAA crown, Lodi and Tokay will both play in the San-Joaquin Section playoffs.

The Flames have a No. 2 power rating in Division I behind Sheldon of Sacramento. The Tigers are No. 7.

Other SJAA teams are Lincoln (No. 9) and Stagg, which dropped to No. 19 with recent losses.

Lodi's girls (12-12, 6-6) need to win their final two games against Franklin on Tuesday and Tokay on Friday to make the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs.

Lodi is ranked No. 15, while league opponents Lincoln (No. 12) and Edison (No. 7) are also ranked in Division I.

St. Mary's took the No. 3 spot in Division II.

Tokay's girls (4-8) are out of the playoff hunt but can play the role of spoiler Friday with a win over Lodi.

In the Mountain Valley League, Jim Elliot Christian's boys and girls teams are ranked in Division IV. The girls took the No. 4 spot while the boys landed a No. 6 seed.

In wrestling action, teams from Tokay and Lodi will compete at the Sac-Joaquin Subsection tournament this weekend at Turlock High in Modesto.

The tourney begins at 8:30 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

The Tigers and Flames send 13 individual wrestlers to the sub-sections.
