Lodi's Patrick Armstrong recently had a perfect performance - and didn't even realize it.

The 11-year-old pitcher for Tony's Pizzeria tossed a perfect game, including 13 strikeouts, in a victory against the Mary Hill Giants. He didn't realize what he had accomplished until his father came onto the field and told him.

Armstrong also had a no-hitter and a one-hitter to his credit this season.

Family: Mark and Teresa Armstrong, parents; two sisters, one brother.

Favorite sport: Basketball.

"It's exciting because you're always running and never stop," Armstrong said.

Favorite athlete: Boston Red Sox shortstop Nomar Garciaparra.

"He plays all the time, hustles and makes great plays."

Favorite hobby: Armstrong enjoys playing basketball with his friends.

Favorite subject: Science. "I get to do experiments and study the earth," Armstrong said.

Would like to meet: Sacramento Kings center Vlade Divac. Armstrong said he would like to see how tall Divac is next to him.

Crowning achievement: The perfect game.

"I didn't know I had a perfect game until my dad told me. I was excited. My teammates were jumping on me," Armstrong said.

Future plans: Armstrong hopes to be a professional baseball or basketball player.

He'd like to attend Duke University or the University of Texas.

The Athlete of the Week is selected by the News-Sentinel sports staff. Nominations are gladly accepted. Armstrong will receive a T-shirt courtesy of Lodi Sporting Goods for being selected.
