Tigers and Flames tie yet again
Soccer matches aren't formal affairs, yet the Tokay Tigers and Lodi Flames keep leaving their matches with ties.
With three ties in five San Joaquin Athletic Association games coming into their match against visiting St. Mary's on Friday, the Tigers couldn't find the net but neither could the Rams in a 0-0 stalemate, the Tigers' fourth deadlock in league play.
Although Lodi did find the net at Lincoln, the two teams were knotted at two apiece when the horn sounded, giving the Flames their third tie in SJAA play.
"We'd rather get the win but it's better than a loss," Tokay coach Ruben Gomez said. "Although, it's time to start worrying about all the ties."
Had it not been for the play of keeper Greg Cundari, who had eight saves in the match, the Tigers may have walked away with their first league loss.
"He was outstanding, especially in the first half," said Gomez. "Our defense played great today."
Defenders Brandon Masai, Charlie VanSicklen, Danny Valencia and Kyle Barrow all had
