UOP holds 'Forum on Iraq' tonight

The University of the Pacific School of International Studies is holding a "Forum on Iraq" tonight at the George Wilson Hall on the UOP campus.

A panel will discuss such questions as: What is the likely impact of the war on the region? How is the war likely to affect America's position in the world? What are the likely economic, social and political impacts of the war in the United States?

The panelists will include UOP professors Jerry Hewitt and Susan Sample, and newspaper reporter Kevin Parrish.

Holiday service information wanted

'Promapalooza' at the Joe Serna Jr. Charter

Middle College High School presents "Promapalooza - A Century of Prom!" tonight at the Joe Serna Jr. Charter School, 19 S. Central Street in Lodi. Tonight will be the play's only Lodi performance.

Written, directed and produced by Middle College High School students, the play looks at proms through the ages. It features a variety of costumes and dances, and will offer a peek into proms of the future. A live band will open the show, and refreshments will be served.

The performance starts at 7 p.m., and admission is free.

Democratic Women's Club luncheon set

The Democratic Women's Club of San Joaquin County will hold its monthly meeting on Saturday at noon in the Richmaid Restaurant, 100 S. Cherokee Lane. Parking spaces are available on both the north and south sides of the building.

Following lunch, there will be presentations by two speakers: Katherine Maestas, chair of the 10th Assembly District, and Barbara Mayron, formally of Sun Microft, who will speak on "Group Dynamics."

Galt Community Choir to present spring concert

A variety of vocal and instrumental music is planned for the Galt Community Choir's 15th-annual spring concert on Sunday.

The 21-voice adult choir and seven-member youth choir will perform at 2:30 p.m. in the Galt High School auditorium, 145 N. Lincoln Way. Retired Galt teacher Barbara Murphy, who lives in Acampo, is the accompanist.

Don Ross of Galt, who teaches music in the Lodi Unified School District, will play the saxophone, and 14-year-old Matthew Miller of Galt will play the violin. Betty Bohn of Galt is the conductor.

The concert, sponsored by the Galt Parks and Recreation Department, is free and open to the public. For more information, call 366-7180.

Lockeford Street Faire scheduled for Saturday

More than 200 vendors will line the Jack Tone Road Bypass for Saturday's Lockeford Street Faire.

Vendors will sell antiques, collectibles, arts, crafts, jewelry, garden accessories and handcrafts. There will also be 10 food vendors.

The Clements-Lockeford Lions Club will have a pancake breakfast and serve other food for lunch. The FFA and 4-H will provide a petting zoo, and there will be carnival rides, a water wars game and strolling entertainment throughout the day.

Ron Bombardier and the Bayou Boys will perform from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department will have its mobile crime lab available to the public and Mokelumne firefighters will conduct rescue demonstrations throughout the day.
