Lodi High's Melanie Nordhaus tossed a two-hit shutout and had two hits at the plate to lead the Flames to a victory Thursday.

Nordhaus had two strikeouts in a game that ended after the fifth inning when the 10-run rule was invoked.

Anna Hetzner and Danielle Meyers each had two hits for the Flames (7-2, 2-0 SJAA) and Crystal Sauseda, Allyson Maffei and Lauren Katzakian each had one.

Hilary Hirzel had two strikeouts while allowing seven hits and one earned run for Tokay (6-3, 2-0 SJAA) in the opening game of the National Invitational in Bullhead, Ariz.

Hannah Grundman had an RBI single to score Misty Brown and Jackie Fuhrman and Hirzel each added singles.

The Tigers faced Catalina Hills of Arizona at 7:30 a.m. today.

Julia Nicholas and Samantha Baltz combined on a no-hitter, with Nicolas collecting seven strikeouts.

Jessica Guantone, Vanessa Jardin and Nicole Stieb all had two singles.

Diane Cuenca, Ashley Edsell, Melissa Engelhardt, Jennifer Kupka, Kate Pepper and Brenne White each had a single.

Nicholas and Joy Cecchetti combined to no-hit Franklin in a 25-1 win on Tuesday.

Stieb had three singles, Cecchetti had a double and a single and Natalie Gonzales doubled.

Stephanie Byrd, Edsell, Engelhardt, Guantone, Nicholas and Pepper each had a single.

Lodi 8, Stagg 0

Hallsie Pacheco scored three goals and Hillary Goldberg added two.

Sara Iverson, Stephanie Castaneto and Shareen Abu-Shamsiyh all scored once for Lodi (6-2-2, 3-0 SJAA).

Pacheco, Iverson, Goldberg, Alison DeSnayer and Sarah Devencenzi all had assists.

Megan Robinson added six saves.

Junior Varsity

Tokay 6, Bear Creek 0

Amanda Bolls, Monique Volbert, Sarah VanRuiten, Kayln Fuller, Alicia Montantes and Karla each scored a goal for Tokay (6-1-4, 3-0 SJAA).

Allison Daniel, Hallsie Pimentel, VanRuiten, Volberlt, Bolls and Fuller all had assists.


BASEBALL

Freshmen

Tokay 17, Edison 4

Robbie Ricardson pitched three innings, while striking out two for the win.

Jordan Lawley had three strikeouts in one inning and recorded the save for Tokay (6-2, 2-0 SJAA).

Vincent Garcia had a home run and triple and Bobbi Fucci added a homer and double.

Zach Johnson homered, Mike Hutton and Alex Ring each had a triple and Zach Massie singled twice.

In singles play, Danny Miladinovich lost to Mark Admundson 6-4, 6-4, David Dickey fell to Anthony Corradi 6-2, 6-2 and Mike Niktaris was defeated by Zach Cantu 6-3, 6-0.

In doubles action, Ryan Chiene and C.J. Anema lost to Albert Wu and Mike Bricka 6-3, 6-2 and Jason Aman and Sergio Valenzuela fell to Andrew Irwin and David Gelb 6-2, 6-2.

Lodi is 1-4 in SJAA matches.

St. Mary's 3, Tokay 2

The Rams (5-1 SJAA) took two of three from the Tigers (2-4 SJAA) in singles play.

Nick Franco beat Ricky Gill 6-1, 6-0, and Bryan Solari defeated Tyler Sinclair 6-0, 6-0. J.R. Ferrer earned Tokay's only singles victory, besting Nathaniel Estrada 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles action, Tokay's Steve Sublaban and Mike McFerren defeated Peter Hernandez and Jon O'Brien 6-0, 6-3, and St. Mary's R.T. Herada and Lou Precissi beat Cedric Cutaran and Rod Shinozaki 6-2, 6-4.

Tokay's John Fausett won the shot put with a throw of 50 feet, 1 inch, and won the discus with a heave of 148-11.

Serena Hubbard won the discus with a toss of 94-11 and she won the shot put with a throw of 34-8.

Karlyn Nieland won the 1,600 with a time of 5 minutes, 54 seconds, the 800 (2:44) and the 3,200 (13:55).
